With the commission to prepare the bridal congregation, women of the West Central District of Freetown had a three days convention at Goderich congregation, west of Freetown.
To move away from the view that women are only meant for labour, cooking and child bearing (customs), the women organized the convention; to acquire adequate knowledge to serve God freely. It’s to contribute to, not only proclaiming the gospel - to complement the church ministers - but help in leadership / administration of the church.
They arrived on Friday the 24th of April 2026 and at night had a prayer service conducted by Priest Abdulai Maxim Conjoh, acting Rector, central church.
On Saturday, they walked-out/jogged from Goderich congregation to Emergency hospital, about 5km and back. There was then a prayer service led by Priest Abdulai Bonopher of central church
At 10am various topics were presented by different speakers / facilitators, moderated by Sister Princess Bindi:
- Sister Sallay M. Sesay, wife of late Apostle Sanpha Sesay talked on women empowerment
- “Breaking free from lies to serve God” (convention theme), facilitated by the guest speaker, a female Reverend Sia Elvira Mansaray, from Methodist church
- Women Leadership in NAC, done by the Deputy District Rector (DDR), Priest Abdulai Kenawah Sannoh
- The role of women in implementing the NAC doctrine by the District Rector, District Evangelist Alfred Benson Sesay
This was followed by group discussions on selected NAC doctrinal topics like what does an NAC Christian believe? Prayer life, Sacrifices etc.
It ended on Sunday, the 26th April, 2026 with a divine service conducted by Priest Sannoh (DDR), assisted by Priest Samuel Christopherson Nicol, the rector and host of the event. The fellowship continue in the church compound – sharing food and drinks with all members.
About 200 attended the service with the women, who have decided to contribute tremendously to the development of the church, going forward…
