Friday, 8th December 2023 – Youth Service in Jui
The service took place at the Freetown Polytechnic – a tertiary institution at Jui in the far east of Freetown. The congregation of Jui is close to the institution.
Text word - Matthew 28:20 - …teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.
This is a reference of the last discourse of Jesus with His disciples assuring them that – all powers have been given to Him in heaven and on Earth; with the great commission to preach the gospel and prepare souls for the eternal goal of salvation. We have to rely on this promise from the son of God. The District Apostle states that there are generational challenges in Africa, Europe etc., from politics, ecology, economy which is preoccupying young people for the future. They are to seek orientation from the gospel and not false teachings. Jesus is with His own always till the end. The heart should not be troubled but believe in God; that the Holy Spirit is the gift of power, comfort and help, to proclaim undiluted gospel for others to follow Jesus through the Apostolate. Jesus is felt in the congregations – having a spiritual family relationship.
Apostle Leno admonishes youth to seek guidance of the bearers of blessings, mentors, teachers etc. The District Apostle reiterates following those who do God’s will. It is important to care for souls with the same eye level via prayer, preaching, in an effort to experience Jesus in the scripture - thereby listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit in our soul.
Apostle Kargbo reminds all that man shall not live by bread alone, but the mouth of God via the Apostles.
300 were in attendance; experiencing low turnout related to security concerns but Jesus is there with His own always.
