Lead Apostle Geoffrey Nwogu and French Interpreter
6 July 2020

A blessed experience of on line divine service for the departed conducted by Lead Apostle Geoffrey Nwogu, Abuja, Nigeria, on Sunday, 5th July 2020. Salvation for both the living and the dead was underscored.

Apostle Ngowu reminded all about the divine service for the departed done first Sunday of March, July and November every year. This would confuse others but it is very clear from the day of Pentecost when the Apostles received power of the Holy Spirit to proclaim the gospel and perform the sacraments for salvation. ‘Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved’ Acts 4: 12 was the text word.

Jesus gave old and living Apostles the gift of salvation, the authority to proclaim the gospel. They preach message of salvation for the living and the dead. Death does not limit the power of Jesus to reach souls in the beyond.

The human structure comprises body, spirit and soul. When one dies, the body is buried but the soul and the spirit go into the realm of the departed. The personality does not change of the soul and spirit. The New Apostolic faith is that the soul and spirit don’t disappear to accept Jesus and the gospel of salvation.

Jesus preached three days and nights to unredeemed souls of the time of Noah to rejoice for salvation in the message of life. John 11:25 Jesus said to her ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, even though he dies, he shall live’. God determines the situation of the dead. It’s influenced by faith in Jesus who is the author of salvation and then the degree of their guilt.

Apostles of Today

The Lead Apostle referred to using the name of Jesus by Apostle Peter and John to make the lame man well Acts 4:10-11 ‘… This is the stone which was rejected by builders, which has become the chief corner stone’ He admonished all to believe in the mission of Jesus Christ, accept now the Apostolate and the sacraments. Acts 2: 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the braking of bread, and in prayers.

Let’s follow the lamp of God via the Apostolate. Receiving the sacrament of Holy baptism washes away to original sin to get clear conscience to come close to God. Partaking in the Holy Communion worthily makes one to be in fellowship with Jesus and develop His nature. The Holy Spirit is the guiding force of the Apostle Ministry. In His return, he will take the living and the dead who are prepared to be given glorified body of Christ to receive God’s glory. The man of God emphasize ‘we shall be like him and see Him as He is’

Salvation opposes eternal separation from God. Followers of Jesus will enter the new creation and those rejected are separated eternally with God. The Chief Apostle and District Apostle dispense sacraments to the glory of God for the dead who accepts. This is the joy of the church – the glorious task of the Apostles.

Apostle Augustine Rotimi
added that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, that salvation is through Him. Accepting Jesus is to remain humble and repent the old ways. It’s good for the enlightenment, not to be ignorant because salvation plan for both the living and the dead never change.
